This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share and protect personal information through the website at kovuna.com (the “Website”), in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”).

Kovuna is a pre-launch product intended to be offered through eNL Mutual Bank. This Policy covers the Website only. If and when you open an actual account, eNL Mutual Bank’s own privacy terms will apply to that account.

1.Who we are

The operator of this Website is the responsible party for personal information collected through it. You can reach us, or our Information Officer, at hello@kovuna.com.

We ask for as little as possible. We do not ask for, and you should not send us, identity numbers, banking details, or other sensitive information through this Website.

3.How we use your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing without your consent.

We process your information on the basis of your consent (which you give by submitting it), to take steps at your request before any product is offered, for our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Website, and to meet legal obligations. You may withdraw your consent at any time (see “Your rights”).

The Website uses only what is strictly necessary for it to function and to keep it secure. It does not currently use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. If we add analytics or similar technology in future, we will update this Policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.

We keep waitlist and enquiry information for as long as needed for the purpose it was given (for example, until launch and a reasonable period after), or until you ask us to delete it, whichever is sooner, unless we are required to keep it longer by law.

We apply reasonable, appropriate technical and organisational measures to safeguard personal information against loss, unauthorised access, and misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take steps to protect your information and to limit what we collect.

9.Information processed outside South Africa

Our service providers may store or process information in countries outside South Africa. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the information enjoys a level of protection consistent with POPIA.

10.Your rights

Subject to POPIA, you have the right to: ask what personal information we hold about you and request access to it; ask us to correct or delete it; object to its processing; and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email hello@kovuna.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

The Website and waitlist are intended for adults (18 years or older), such as parents and gift-givers. They are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect a child’s personal information through the Website. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your personal information, please contact us first at hello@kovuna.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) via its website, inforegulator.org.za.
